译文
大堂之上谋臣开宴，边疆将士手持武器。作战的自然气候条件具备，地理环境优越，且众志成城。“可以讨伐燕国了吗？”说：“可以。”
今日在楼台之上筹谋国政，明年建立不世之功。大家一起高唱《大风歌》，不需多日四方便来庆贺。
注释
西江月：词牌名，原唐教坊曲，用作词调。又名《白苹香》、《步虚词》、《晚香时候》、《玉炉三涧雪》、《江月令》，另有《西江月慢》。
尊俎（zūn zǔ）：酒器，代指宴席。刘向《新序》说：“夫不出于尊俎之间，而知千里之外，其晏子之谓也。”
燕可伐欤（yú）：可以讨伐燕国了吗？
楼台：指相府。
鼎鼐（dǐng nài）：炊器；古时把宰相治国比作鼎鼐调味，古以之代相位。
大风歌：汉高祖扫平四海，统一天下之后，以家乡少年一百二十人伴倡，齐声高唱大风歌。

西江月·堂上谋臣尊俎创作背景
公元1204年（宋宁宗嘉泰四年）韩侂胄定议伐金，其用心是为建功固宠。不久韩侂胄就挥师北上，结果大败而归。故这次北伐本身意义不大，但还是确实起到了振奋民心的作用。刘过的这首词即是当年为祝贺韩侂胄生日而写的，词中表达了爱国军民企盼北伐胜利的共同心声。

西江月·堂上谋臣尊俎鉴赏
词的上阕分析宋朝伐金的有利形势，首先刺堂之上有在宴席之中就能战胜列手的智谋之士，而在边疆有骁勇善战的将领与士兵。宋朝占据了天时、地利、人和，所以说伐金是完全可行的。之所以要这样分析，主要是针对当时朝廷弥漫的自卑、畏敌情绪而言的。虽然已经议定要伐金，但是朝野上下对于抗金的胜利并没有太大的把握，刘过这首词就是鼓励大家要看到希望，以饱满的热情投入到抗金事业中去。词中引用孟子的“天时不如地利，地利不如人和”（《盖子·公孙丑下》），其实就是强调虽然南宋的军队实力比不过金国的军队，但只要南宋军民团结一心，共同抗敌，充分发挥人和的作用，最后的胜利一定是属于南宋的。
词的下阕瞻望南宋伐金的大好前景：只要执政者治理有方，君臣同心，同休共戚，那么明年一定会取得胜利的，而用不了多久，国家一定会强盛起来，引来四方朝贺的。这从全词的形势说到韩伉胄本人，是对他的强有力的支持，让人充满信心和勇气。
该词运用很多口语化、散文化的句子，大有以文为词的倾向，读来朗朗上口，更增加了词的魅力。全词语言流畅、气势磅礴。

刘过（1154～1206）南宋文学家，字改之，号龙洲道人。吉州太和（今江西泰和县）人，长于庐陵（今江西吉安），去世于江苏昆山，今其墓尚在。四次应举不中，流落江湖间，布衣终身。曾为陆游、辛弃疾所赏，亦与陈亮、岳珂友善。词风与辛弃疾相近，抒发抗金抱负狂逸俊致，与刘克庄、刘辰翁享有“辛派三刘”之誉，又与刘仙伦合称为“庐陵二布衣”。有《龙洲集》、《龙洲词》。
