寄张元夫鉴赏
薛涛流传下来的诗篇，以七绝为最多，同时也以七绝为最好。在这些七绝诗中，又以抒情的最多，也以抒情的为最好，这些诗哀婉流畅，清丽多姿，令人读了，深深感到薛涛的文采风流，才华卓越。同时也引起人们对薛涛一生的辛酸生活，凄凉身世，寄与无限的同情。唐代各地官府及军镇均设有乐官，官妓居于其中。她们专为官府服务，献艺陪酒，甚至私侍寝席。当时成都的最高地方长官剑南西川节度使韦皋特别赏识薛涛，常命她来侍酒唱和，接应宾客。后来，韦皋甚至奏请朝廷想任命薛涛为“校书郎”，虽未获批准，但人们从此戏称薛为“女校书”了。从韦皋、高崇文、段文昌到李德裕，西川节度使共历十一届，他们均与薛涛有诗酒往来，关系极为特殊。薛涛的诗大多散失。清代编纂的《全唐诗》中有她的诗88首，多是吟花咏月、应酬唱和、感春伤别之作，思想性与艺术性均不是很高。但如细读起来，在字里行间往往能感受到诗人凄苦悲凉的难言之痛与对幸福生活的向往。薛涛最令人赞赏的是，她虽与权贵“诗歌唱和”，却是以不卑不亢的态度，完全以平等的身份、非常善解人意地交往。
张元夫是西川节度使幕府校书，薛涛与他相识于公元813年（唐宪宗元和八年）以后，从诗中看来他们的关系非同一般，可他们相识时张元夫肯定早有家室，此时的薛涛大概三十多岁，仍喜欢穿红色的衣服。他们可能兴趣相投，可也止于神交。此时张元夫应该在长安朝廷中任职，薛涛也已退隐浣花溪畔。诗中薛涛描述了自己孤独、寂寞的生活，每天“前溪独立后溪行”，连白鹭都熟悉了她的朱衣而不惊慌逃避。女诗人自问自答：为什么人间这么哀愁寂寞？是因为知音难觅，伯牙琴弦早已断绝。表现了非常深沉的哀愁与寂寥。

薛涛（约768～832年），唐代女诗人，字洪度。长安（今陕西西安）人。因父亲薛郧做官而来到蜀地，父亲死后薛涛居于成都。居成都时，成都的最高地方军政长官剑南西川节度使前后更换十一届，大多与薛涛有诗文往来。韦皋任节度使时，拟奏请唐德宗授薛涛以秘书省校书郎官衔，但因格于旧例，未能实现，但人们却称之为“女校书”。曾居浣花溪（今有浣花溪公园）上，制作桃红色小笺写诗，后人仿制，称“薛涛笺”。成都望江楼公园有薛涛墓。
