九月九日都督大宴滕王阁，宿命其婿作序以夸客，因出纸笔遍请客，莫敢当，至勃，泛然不辞。都督怒，起更衣，遣吏伺其文辄报。一再报，语益奇，乃矍然曰：“天才也!”请遂成文，极欢罢。勃属文，初不精思，先磨墨数升，则酣饮，引被覆面卧，及寤，援笔成篇，不易一字，时人谓勃为腹稿。

译文
王勃路过钟陵，正赶上九月九日都督在滕王阁大宴宾客，事先背地里命他的女婿作一篇序以向宾客夸耀，于是拿出纸笔遍请宾客作序，大家都不敢担承。到王勃那里，竟漫不经心地接过笔来，也不推辞。都督大怒，起身假装上厕所，暗中派遣下属窥探王勃的文章，随时汇报。汇报了一两次之后，文章的语言越来越奇妙，都督兴奋地说：“这真是个天才！”连忙请他将文章全部写完，宾主尽欢而散。王勃做文章的时候，刚开始并不精密思索，先磨数升墨汁，然后大量饮酒，拉过一床被子蒙头而卧，等醒来之后，拿过笔来就写完全篇，一字不改，当时的人称王勃为“腹中写稿”。

勃：指王勃。
泛然：轻松、愉快之意。
语益奇：(勃文)更加奇妙（这里指一句比一句奇妙）。
矍(jué)：惊惶貌。
属(zhǔ)文：写文章。属，连缀。
寤：睡醒。
易：更改。

宋祁（998～1061）北宋文学家。字子京，安州安陆（今湖北安陆）人，后徙居开封雍丘（今河南杞县）。天圣二年进士，官翰林学士、史馆修撰。与欧阳修等合修《新唐书》，书成，进工部尚书，拜翰林学士承旨。卒谥景文，与兄宋庠并有文名，时称“二宋”。诗词语言工丽，因《玉楼春》词中有“红杏枝头春意闹”句，世称“红杏尚书”。
