译文
再向北走二百里，有座山叫发鸠山，山上长了很多柘树。树林里有一种鸟，它的形状像乌鸦，头上羽毛有花纹，白色的嘴，红色的脚，名叫精卫，它的叫声像在呼唤自己的名字。这其实是炎帝的小女儿，名叫女娃。有一次，女娃去东海游玩，溺水身亡，再也没有回来，所以化为精卫鸟。经常叼着西山上的树枝和石块，用来填塞东海。浊漳河就发源于发鸠山，向东流去，注入黄河。

精卫填海鉴赏
太阳神炎帝有一个小女儿，名叫女娃，是他最钟爱的女儿．有一天，女娃驾着小船，到东海去游玩，不幸海上起了风浪，象山一样的海浪把小船打翻，女娃就淹死在海里，永远不回来了。炎帝固然挂念他的女儿。但都不能用他的光和热来使她死而复生，只好独自悲伤罢了。
女娃不甘心她的死，她的魂灵变化做了一只小鸟，名叫“精卫”。精卫长着花脑袋、白嘴壳、红脚爪，大小有点象乌鸦，住在北方的发鸠山。她恨无情的大海夺去了她年轻的生命，因此她常常飞到西山去衔一粒小石子，或是一段小树枝；展翅高飞，一直飞到东海。她在波涛汹涌的海面上回翔着，把石子或树枝投下去，要想把大海填平。
大海奔腾着，咆哮着，露出雪亮亮的牙齿。凶恶地嘲笑着：“小鸟儿，算了罢，你这工作就算干上一百万年，也休想把大海填平呢。”
精卫在高空答复大海：“哪怕是干上一千万年，一万万年，干到宇宙的终尽，世界的末日，我也要把你填平！”
“你为什么衔恨我这样深呢？”
“因为你呀——夺取了我年轻的生命，将来还会有许多年轻无辜的生命要被你无情地夺去。”
精卫在高空悲啸着：“我要干的！我要干的！我要永无休止地干下去的!这叫人悲恨的大海啊，总有一天我会把你填成平地！”
她飞翔着，啸叫着．离开大海，又飞回西山去；把西山上的石子和树枝衔来投进大海。她就这样往复飞翔，从不休息，直到今天地还在做着这种工作。
