译文
留恋京城，还在京城徘徊，脚步因重迭的山停止不前。
登上石头山高处看皇宫，感到皇宫很近，眺望远方风起云涌。
荆、吴远方都被高山挡住视线，江河湖海都波涛汹涌。
空中飞回又恨身无羽翼，象这样的别离之情怎么受得了。
注释
将发：即将出发。
石头：山名，在今南京市西长江边。
烽火楼：利用烟和光来报警而建造的高楼。
踟蹰（chí chú）：住足不进的样子。
躧（xǐ）：鞋，这里作踏解。
曾阿：同“层阿”，重迭的山。
墀阙（chíquè）：是指宫殿。墀，即丹墀，指宫殿的红色台阶。阙，指宫殿门左右对峙的一对高建筑物。
荆：荆州，今湖北、湖南一带。因湖北刺山而得名。
吴：今江苏、浙江、安徽一带。
山岫（xiù）：山峰。
其如：即如其，象这样。

将发石头上烽火楼诗创作背景
齐武帝永明八年（490年）八月，任随郡王萧子隆为荆州刺史。明年，谢眺跟随王去荆州上任。临走时登上京都建康西首的石头山上的烽火楼，因感而发，写成此诗。

这首诗开头两句吟后顿觉一种惆怅忧伤的气氛透入心扉，眼前仿佛看到这样一位青年，他满面愁容，步履迟疑地走出京城，向着江边的山上一步一步地往上踏行。他之所以“徘徊”，“踯躅”，是因为他对“京邑”“恋”念极了。“恋京邑”为一篇中要领。
“陵高墀阙近，眺迥风云多”。皇宫在京邑中，是诗人日常出没之处。建康为东吴、东晋古都，古迹胜景不胜枚举。诗人登上烽火楼，既没有放眼江天山野，一抒久处“墀阙”之怀，也没有凭吊陈迹，发思古之幽情，而是首先回首俯视“墀阙”。他平素身处墀阙，似乎对墀阙看犹未足，而来登此烽火楼作一饱览。按理说，他此日登楼所望“墀阙”，比他平日所见应是远了。但诗人在此却说是“近”了。这乍想似乎违于理，但深思后便觉合乎情。这“近”字实从首句中“恋”字而来，因其“恋京邑”，故视京邑中的一切便反远为“近”了。“近”字凝结着诗人对京邑、墀阙的无限深情。前三句写京邑，“眺迥”句与上句对举，转写荆州。他对京邑是那样的“恋”，对即将赴任的荆州，诗人也以三句作答。据《南齐书》本传载：谢朓去荆不久，便被同僚王秀之向武帝告密，武帝随令“朓可还都”。据此可知，荆州随王府的人际关系是复杂的。谢朓对此也当早有所料，故“风云多”一语，绝非简单的写景，而实隐含着对此去荆州的畏惧之情。
接着两句，隐含此情尤深：荆吴之间，有山有水。山水本是诗人素性爱好玩赏之自然景物，此时却成了他的惆怅忧郁的象征。山是阻隔两地之情的障碍，江水有着险不可测的波澜。诗人此去荆州福祸未卜，一腔心事咏叹无端，移情于景，以寄托其畏惧之思。
“归飞”一句，笔意陡转，神思飞越，由将去而未去荆州的此时，想到去荆州后思归之日，陆地有山岫相阻，水路有澜波惊扰，空中又恨身无羽翼。未去荆州时，已对京邑恋不可舍，去了荆州，遇上人事趄必将更“恋京邑”。“恋京邑”而归不得京邑，其心境之愁苦忧思，亦必十倍于今日。忧思及此，笔锋再一转：“其如别离何？”自我提问道：早知日后愁苦，何必今日离此京邑而去荆州呢？
这首诗以“恋京邑”提携全篇，明写京邑可恋，暗写荆州可畏。由情及景，以景融情，由今及后，由后复今，妙笔回还往复，互为呼应。诗意含蕴，耐人寻味。

谢朓（464~499年），字玄晖。汉族，陈郡阳夏（今河南太康县）人。南朝齐时著名的山水诗人，出身世家大族。谢朓与谢灵运同族，世称“小谢”。初任竟陵王萧子良功曹、文学，为“竟陵八友”之一。后官宣城太守，终尚书吏部郎，又称谢宣城、谢吏部。东昏侯永元初，遭始安王萧遥光诬陷，下狱死。曾与沈约等共创“永明体”。今存诗二百余首，多描写自然景物，间亦直抒怀抱，诗风清新秀丽，圆美流转，善于发端，时有佳句；又平仄协调，对偶工整，开启唐代律绝之先河。
