兴庆池侍宴应制创作背景
沈佺期这首《兴庆池侍宴应制》是早期的七言律诗，作于公元710年（唐中宗景龙四年）四月六日。
兴庆池侍宴应制鉴赏
宫廷宴会诗的恰当开头方式之一是皇帝的威严光临，经常运用形容帝王威仪的现成词语，如以“动地”描写帝王的到来。沈佺期这首诗的开头富有戏剧性，平静的水池倒映着虚空，但随着帝王紫光及香车的到来，这里突然充满了色彩和动态。沈俭期运用了最流行的惯例，把帝王及朝臣描写成天上的神仙。当诗人俯视池中的倒影时，他“错”把他们的出现当成天上神仙的形象。皇帝驾“云”出现在虚空的倒影中，他的车“御风”，这一词语出自《庄子》，用来描写羽化成仙的列子。
接下来，宫殿群倒影的出现使得凝视水池的诗人产生了一时的错觉：由于宫殿群的倒影添加在天空的倒影上，他错认为它们是天上的宫殿，但又“纠正”了自己的比喻，指出它们是“汉家城阙”。诗人的视界逐渐充实和扩大，从空澄的水池到皇帝一群的来临，再到宫殿群，这一切都是从水中倒影看出来的。接着诗人又从他的“镜子”中看到了京城地区的全景。读者在陈子昂的《感遇三十八首》中已看到，旧的虚构需要加以合理化，在这里是宫廷和天的同一；解决办法是一种在唐诗中流行的比喻形式——“迷惑的比喻”，诗人含蓄地或明确地承认比喻的虚构性，他不说“甲是乙”，却说“在我看来”、“我误认甲是乙”。
开头四句写得直率自然，具有戏剧性的秩序和宏壮的音调，接近于盛唐风格。第三联描绘的是狭小的特定景象，这在早期宫廷诗及盛唐诗中都可见到。诗人此时抬起头来，先看到水池周围的景象，然后看到远处的树林。第六句描写耸立于树林中的宫殿，但有一部分被盛开的木槿树遮住了。沈佺期与陈子昂一样也用了“分”这一动词，描写打破视觉延续的某事物的出现。在宫廷诗中，时节经常根据植物的花序确定，如这首诗，一种植物“已”呈现某种状态（此处为”绿“），而另一种则是“初”——开始开花。另一种流行的时序平衡法，是在对句中以“已”和“未”相对。
最后一联指汉武帝的《秋风歌》，写于他在汾阴祭祀后土的一次快乐出游中，李峤的《汾阴行》描写了这一事件。尾联对中宗诗的高雅评价，回到了帝王主题上。但是，诗人不仅是一般地将中宗与汉武帝相比，而是认为中宗诗的“雄”超出了汉武帝。一千多年来，许多帝王试图获得汉武帝横济汾河的同等乐趣，但只有唐中宗成功。第三联精致小巧的泛舟画面超过了汉武帝的强烈感情。从中宗现存诗篇的质量来看，沈佺期的恭维是言过其实的。

沈佺期，字云卿，相州内黄人。善属文，尤长七言之作。擢进士第。长安中，累迁通事舍人，预修《三教珠英》，转考功郎给事中。坐交张易之，流驩州。稍迁台州录事参军。神龙中，召见，拜起居郎，修文馆直学士，历中书舍人，太子少詹事。开元初卒。建安后，讫江左，诗律屡变，至沈约、庾信，以音韵相婉附，属对精密，及佺期与宋之问，尤加靡丽。回忌声病，约句准篇，如锦绣成文，学者宗之，号为沈宋。语曰：苏李居前，沈宋比肩。集十卷，今编诗三卷。
