译文
秦望山青绿秀丽，若耶溪清凉幽雅，在千岩万壑中争相流淌。女墙是用鸳鸯瓦盖成的，城墙上列有手执画戟的士兵，而蓬莱则势如飞燕，高达“三休”。看到那远在天际的一叶扁舟，使我想起了同范蠡浪迹太湖的西施，当年的姑苏台已荒芜不堪，西施的故里苎萝村也已今非昔比，我也因此有了些许寂寞惆怅的感觉。
谁人看史书看得伤了神，总是感叹青春易失，欢娱难久呢？我能不能像梅福、王羲之一样，留名青史？不过倒不如学那“四明狂客”贺知章，不为名利所累，在镜湖旁从容自得，逍遥其中，最好再把那富贵功禄都换成美酒，在这块远离尘世的水滨地尽情享乐。
注释
望海潮：由柳永创调，此调咏钱塘（今浙江杭州），当是以钱塘作为观潮胜地取意，原调开阔博大具有盛气。
秦峰：即秦望山，在会稽。
耶溪：即若耶溪，在会稽。溪旁有院纱石，相传西施尝浣纱于此。
千岩万壑（hè）争流：据《世说新语。言语》载，顾恺之从会稽游玩回来，有人问他那里景色如何，顾回答说：“千岩竞秀，万壑争流。”
鸳瓦雉（zhì）城：鸳瓦，即鸳鸯瓦，喻瓦之成对者。雉城，指城上齿状小墙，又名雉堞、女墙。
谯（qiáo）门画戟（jǐ）：谯门，楼下城门。画戟，戟上施有彩画者。
蓬莱燕阁三休：蓬莱燕阁，即蓬莱阁，系游宴之所。燕，通“宴”。三休，形容蓬莱阁之高。
天际识归舟：语出谢眺《之宣城郡出新林浦向板桥》诗：“天际识归舟，云中辨江树。”
泛五湖烟月，西子同游：据史载，范蠡助越王勾践灭吴国后，携西施归隐，泛扁舟于五湖之上。五湖，即太湖。
茂草台荒：当初吴王夫差为西施所筑的姑苏台今已杂草丛生，一片荒芜。姑苏台旧址在今江苏苏州西南。
苎（zhù）萝村：西施故里，在今浙江诸暨苎萝山下。
朱颜：红润之颜，指青春时。
翠被：原意是以翠羽饰被，这里比喻华贵的衣饰。
梅市旧书：梅市，地名。《地理志》：“梅市在绍兴府城西，以梅福为名。”按此，“旧书”似指福上书事。
兰亭古墨：指王羲之撰书之《兰亭集序》。
狂客鉴湖头：狂客，唐代诗人贺知章自号“四明狂客”，晚年退居会稽鉴湖。
夷犹：犹豫，此处意为从容自得。
金龟换酒：典出《本事诗》。李白初至京城，贺知章闻其名，前去其居住的旅舍拜访，李白出示《蜀道难》诗，贺还未读完，便大为赞叹，称其为“谪仙”，并解下所佩金龟袋换酒，尽醉而归。金龟，唐代官员的一种佩饰。

望海潮·秦峰苍翠创作背景
此词作于神宗元丰二年（1079）夏秋之间。是年秦观往越州探视祖父承议公和叔父秦定，这首词即是受到自称“蓬莱东道主”的会稽（古县名，治所在今浙江绍兴）守程公辟的殷勤招待时所作。

全诗通过排比大量的景物与典故，描绘并赞美了了越州山川人文之美，同时也表达自己对古圣先贤的敬仰之情和对自由生活的向往。
该词的开篇就从越州的山水落笔，先选取最典型的”秦峰”“耶溪”两个意象，以”苍翠”写其色泽之浓重，以“潇洒”写其种韵之飞动，两相对比，灵气十足。接下来”千辅万壑争流”'句则把视角推向更高远处，描绘了气魄极大的山水图景。“鸳瓦”二句依然是写宏大的远景，不过对象从自然景色转到了人文建筑。这两句选取的景物很有历史的沧桑感，为下文的怀古做好准备。“蓬莱燕阁”一句点明了作者所在的地点，也是刚才诸多景物的观察点。“三休”用了楚王待客章华台的典故，不仅写出蓬莱阁之高峻，而且衬托出它所具有的深远历史积淀。蓬莱阁同时也是越州历史的见证。因此“天际”以下虽仍写蓬莱阁上所见景色，然重心则转入怀古。”泛五湖烟月”以下四句都是融化西施的典故，抒发作者对苍茫历史的感慨。西施本为越州浣纱女，被越王发现送入吴宫，成为吴越斗争的棋子，最终导致吴国被越国所灭。西施作为政治的牺牲品，只有在传说中才与范蠡一起归隐，得到平静的幸福。当年吴越的龙争虎斗，到秦观之时都已如梦般遥远，只有那长满荒草的姑苏台，幽冷的苎萝山，依然让人记起这段历史，令人感怀、伤情。
下片脱离了眼前实景的捕写，进入对与越州有关的众多先贤的回忆。其重心则是抒发作者对岁月流逝的惋惜和对隐居生活的向往。首句”何人览古凝眸”凭空发问，是下片全部感情的起点。作者站在蓬莱阁上“览古凝眸”，用一个”怅”字引出下面感慨的内容：“朱颜易失，翠被难留”是叹息年华老去、容颜衰败，一切所谓的富贵荣华，都像烟云一样在历史的洪流中消散；唯有“梅市旧书，兰亭古墨”这些由品德高尚之士留下的遗迹，还”依稀风韵生秋”，依然被人们所记忆，所怀念。这两个对比虽然只是铺排典故，但字里行间流露出作者的感慨与内心取舍。词人站在蓬莱阁上极目远眺，怀古思今，明白了一切功名富贵、形体容貌都是外在的虚无，唯有高尚的品德、杰出的著作，才能被后人怀念。“狂客鉴湖头”一句又借用贺知章的典故表明了作者的心迹，既不羡慕当时的荣华富贵，也不羡慕“梅市”“兰亭”的身后虚名，而是希望能够像四明狂客贺知章那样，隐居在“百年台沼”中“终日夷犹”，“金龟换酒”与一知己“相与醉沧洲”。
这虽是秦观临宴佐欢的作品，但却写得非常深沉。词中描绘了大量的自然景物与人文景观，使用了大量的越州典故，初看之下让人眼花缭乱，但细细品来却贴切工整，蕴涵幽深。

秦观（1049-1100）字太虚，又字少游，别号邗沟居士，世称淮海先生。汉族，北宋高邮（今江苏）人，官至太学博士，国史馆编修。秦观一 生坎坷，所写诗词，高古沉重，寄托身世，感人至深。秦观生前行踪所至之处，多有遗迹。如浙江杭州的秦少游祠，丽水的秦少游塑像、淮海先生祠、莺花亭；青田的秦学士祠；湖南郴州三绝碑；广西横县的海棠亭、醉乡亭、淮海堂、淮海书院等。秦观墓在无锡惠山之北粲山上，墓碑上书“秦龙图墓”几个大字。有秦家村、秦家大院以及省级文物保护单位古文游台。
