译文
都市里的那个红颜知己为我而悲伤，我正青春年少，游谒四海，栖息在芳洲。
等不到金门的诏书，空持宝剑海内周游。
海上的乌云迷失了驿道，江上明月也落下故乡的高楼。
如今又来淮南作客，因为遇到幽静高洁的桂树而淹留。
注释
红颜：年轻人红润的脸色。杜甫诗：“红颜白面花映肉。”
春岁：指天宝七年春，与白毫子游历八公山。
金门诏：金门，汉宫门。这里指代朝廷。金门诏，即皇帝诏书。
寄淮南友人鉴赏
这首五言律《寄淮南友人》可视为《白毫子歌》的姊妹篇。李白在八公山中寻仙不遇，但在淮南盘游的日子，却给他留下美好的记忆。他对友人说，他有幸做了一回淮南客人，并饱览了八公山胜景仙迹，对满山桂花飘香尤为叹赏，因以盘桓日久而忘归。
在这首诗中，李白透出了自淮南返回梁宋故国、重新开始书剑飘零的生涯的抑郁心情。首句“红颜怨归国，春岁歇芳洲”，是个倒装句，说他春天去淮畔芳洲游憩归来后，自己才感到一种失落与隐怨。何以如此？“不得金门诏，空持宝剑游”。从这里我们可以窥见诗人虽向往自由自在的山川游历，却并未断绝仕途之念的矛盾心态：他热烈地追求自由与超脱，同时又希望重新得到大唐天子的重用。他仿佛对友人说，我又开始云游天下了，“仗剑去国，辞亲远游”。“海云迷驿道，江月隐乡楼”即为这次游踪的记录与传照，运用了对偶修辞手法，整齐美观，音律和谐。诗的末尾又回到春天作客淮上的乐事上来，一个“忽”字，很传神地反映了诗人行踪飘零的羁旅生涯。一个因字，表现诗人本放浪不羁，却因八公山中生机勃发的满眼桂树而难以自已的浪漫情怀。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
