译文
没有像秦穆公女那样的美人，有皇家上苑的美好景色，也是空的了。那些花开得如此美，瓣是粉红的，蕊是金黄的，可是只有它们自己或低或昂，没人能和我去欣赏。也许东风不高兴我，所以才使那些花开了一半。
我长日思念，百无聊赖，倚窗独困倦后昏然入睡，一觉醒来夕阳已西下。在梦中梦见了当年的欢爱之情，而梦醒后一切都是空的了，这恨该是何等长久啊！往年两人曾一起在垂杨处依恋相爱，而如今都看不到了。我和她相处只是暂时的，真是很短，和梦一样，还是懒于再想那些事了。
注释
谢新恩：词牌名。王国维辑本《南唐二主词》校勘记：此首实系《临江仙》调。
秦楼：秦穆公为其女弄玉所建之楼，亦名凤楼。相传秦穆公女弄玉，好乐。萧史善吹箫作凤鸣。秦穆公以弄玉妻之，为之作风楼。二人吹箫，凤凰来集，后乘凤，飞升而去。事见汉刘向《列仙传》。后人遂以“凤去楼空”指楼中人去、睹物思人。吹箫女：指秦弄玉。
上苑：指古代供帝王玩赏、打猎的园林。
粉英金蕊：粉红的鲜花，金嗽，此泛指各种颜色的花卉。低昂：起伏不定，时高时低。
一衿香：衿，同“襟”。是以人的感受说明香的程度。一般指不能指出形状的事物，类似的情况有：徐仲雅《赠齐己》：“骨瘦神清风一襟，松老霜天鹤病深。”吕岩《沁园春》：“有一襟风月，两袖云烟。”一说，堂后（北）叫背，堂前（南）叫襟，一襟香，指堂前一面有香。
琼窗：华美精致的窗子。梦醒：一本无“醒”字。
碧阑干：绿色栏杆。垂杨：垂柳。古诗文中杨、柳常通用。
思量（liáng）：想念，相思。

临江仙·秦楼不见吹箫女创作背景
从词意判断，此词应为悼亡之作。李煜十八岁娶周宗之女娥皇，即位以后即立为昭惠后。二人情感甚笃，婚后十年昭惠后因病逝，李煜十分悲伤怀恋，竟是“哀苦骨立，杖而后起”，并自撰诔文，语极酸楚。这首词应该不是虚写，当是李煜的悼亡词。

临江仙·秦楼不见吹箫女鉴赏
首句以“秦楼女”代指所怀之人，不仅写其容貌，更写其才艺，加强思念的感情。因为是独自面对，不得与所爱者共享，一切的美好就只是徒然。那么即使是“上苑风光”，也只是“空”有，只是多“余”，风中花木不过是“自低昂”而已，尽写其无奈之感。“东风恼我”，其实是说“我恼东风”。“恼”字写人的烦恼，不言自己，却去怪罪于东风，很是生动。说这东风是如此地不理解人的心情，偏偏要在这孤独寂寞之时，吹开这满苑的春花，让人染上一身的花香，撩拨心情，不能自已。“东风恼我，才发一矜香”，与李商隐的诗句“春心莫共花争发，一寸相思一寸灰”，表达的是同一个意思。只不过李商隐是由自己的经验而提出的劝告，因此言语沉痛；李煜则是一时的心情不能排解而去责难东风，言得无理，也就言得无奈。上阕是就眼前之景而抒情。
下阕掉转笔头去写回忆与心情。“琼窗”写美好，“梦笛”是虚幻，“残日”是留恋，尽写出当时情景虽然美好，却已经存在着不能如愿的遗憾，因此说是“当年得恨何长”。此句可作两解，一者可以解释为还在沉浸于爱情的甜蜜之中时就已经预见了分别的痛苦，重点在“当年”；一者可以解释为当时爱情是越短暂，就越深刻，以至于“长恨”到今天，重点在“何长”。无论何解，都只是一个“恨”。而这“恨”是如此的深刻与悠长，相聚时的碧栏杆，绿纱窗，分手时的杨柳树，长丝绦，不曾有一刻的忘却，历历如在眼前。而越是思量，越是难忘，越是叫人痛苦难当。结句言：“暂时相见，如梦懒思量。”既是说当时已经是短暂如梦，也是说即使今天相见又能如何？依然是短暂如梦啊。总归是相思也无奈，回忆也无奈，这份感情始终就是一个无奈，虽然美好，却令人心痛，倒不如不思量的好。这种心情，也是李商隐曾经写过的：“此情可待成追忆，只是当时已惘然。”
上下两阕以转折相对，没有过渡，似乎在情绪上有一隔断。但是，下片中的“碧阑干外映垂杨”，以记忆中的景物对照眼前的“上苑风光”；结句中的“如梦”又回应着首句的“不见”，两阕之间仍有着若明若暗的感情线索，使通篇的写景抒情融为一体。

李煜，五代十国时南唐国君，961年-975年在位，字重光，初名从嘉，号钟隐、莲峰居士。汉族，彭城（今江苏徐州）人。南唐元宗李璟第六子，于宋建隆二年(961年)继位，史称李后主。开宝八年，宋军破南唐都城，李煜降宋，被俘至汴京，封为右千牛卫上将军、违命侯。后因作感怀故国的名词《虞美人》而被宋太宗毒死。李煜虽不通政治，但其艺术才华却非凡。精书法，善绘画，通音律，诗和文均有一定造诣，尤以词的成就最高。千古杰作《虞美人》、《浪淘沙》、《乌夜啼》等词。在政治上失败的李煜，却在词坛上留下了不朽的篇章，被称为“千古词帝”。
