译文
美丽的瑶卿是位能诗能文的才女，从千里之外寄来了一首小诗，一封长信。看了这封信和小诗，眼前不由得呈现出她刚折纸准备书写时的样子。她在红红的小轩窗边，挥动翠管，不一会儿就写好了，不管是小篆还是草书，都写得恰到好处，或笔力遒劲，或笔姿优美。
我把它们用锦囊收起，用犀轴卷起，很珍视它，经常在书房里欣赏把玩。更把她的书信看成珠玉一样珍贵，常常放在怀中，衣袖中，不时地看一看，每次看见书信，就像看到她千娇百媚的容颜一般。
注释
凤衔杯：词牌名，此调有平韵、仄韵两体。双调五十六字，上片四句四仄韵，下片五句四仄韵。双调六十三字，上片五句四仄韵，下片六句四仄韵。
瑶卿：神话传说中王母的侍女，貌甚美，此处指代柳永之妻。
染翰：写字作诗。
襞（bì）：裁纸。
苔笺（jiān）：用苔纸制成的小笺。
翠管：毛笔，因笔杆以玉制成，故称翠管。
玉箸（zhù）、银钩：分别指篆书和草书，此处虚指书法。
犀轴：犀角做的轴，用于书画装裱。

凤衔杯·有美瑶卿能染翰创作背景
柳永一生流连坊曲，出人歌楼妓馆，由于仕途失意，与妓女关系非常密切。《乐章集》中有不少咏妓、怀的篇什，其中也不乏感情真挚的词作。这首《凤衔杯》就是词人写给歌妓的小词，表现为对一位美妓翰墨才情的赏爱。

词中赞美的红颜知己瑶卿，有着其他歌伎所不具备的才能。她能诗能文，书法秀丽道劲，在柳永远游吴越之时，她写赠小诗和长信，使词人深感欣慰而倍加珍惜，时时展读，怀想其人，和她有着很深的知己之交。
上片“有美瑶卿能染翰，千里寄、小诗长简”，以记叙的方式介绍瑶卿的才能和她在千里之外寄来书简的事实。瑶卿这位美人有文学方面的才华，她从千里之外的京城，特意向“我”寄来亲笔书写的小诗和长信。“想初襞苔笺，旋挥翠管红窗畔。”由赞美她的才华而想象她濡毫挥写的神志。这两句以细节的刻画，表现出瑶卿在写书简时专注雅静的神情，表现出一种文静和聪慧之美。她折叠好淡绿的笺纸，在朱窗之下挥运翠玉之管，笔势飞动，字如珠玑。“渐玉箸、银钩满”两句形容她的书法，她写的字体是玉箸小篆，行笔匀均沉稳而笔画道劲丰满。虚词“渐”表现出运笔的特点，“满”字则形容出笔画的充实劲健。
下片转换角度，写词人对瑶卿所赠书简的珍爱，表达对她的赞赏与想念之情。“锦囊收，犀轴卷”，词人将她的书作用锦囊收存，用犀角的轴头装裱，可见其珍视和宝爱。“常珍重、小斋吟玩”，经常怀着珍重的心情，在书斋之中展视吟赏，把玩不已。“更宝若珠玑，置之怀袖时时看。”比前两句更进一步，小斋吟玩还不能尽兴，更是将它当作珠玉宝贝一样看待，经常带在身上，藏之怀袖，不时地拿出来欣赏，简直到了爱不释手的地步。“似频见、干娇面”，词人睹物思人，每看一回她的手书笔迹，就是对她的一回怀想和思念。
古人云“书为心画，言为心声”，凝聚着瑶卿情意，表露出她的兰心蕙质的“小诗长简”，是词人与她展开心灵对话的绝佳媒介。可惜的是，词人并没有在作品中引用过瑶卿的诗句，也没有在其他作品中对瑶卿有过稍为详细的交代，以致使瑶卿成为了一个模糊的影子，而湮没在历史的尘埃之中。

柳永，（约987年—约1053年）北宋著名词人，婉约派代表人物。汉族，崇安（今福建武夷山）人，原名三变，字景庄，后改名永，字耆卿，排行第七，又称柳七。宋仁宗朝进士，官至屯田员外郎，故世称柳屯田。他自称“奉旨填词柳三变”，以毕生精力作词，并以“白衣卿相”自诩。其词多描绘城市风光和歌妓生活，尤长于抒写羁旅行役之情，创作慢词独多。铺叙刻画，情景交融，语言通俗，音律谐婉，在当时流传极其广泛，人称“凡有井水饮处，皆能歌柳词”，婉约派最具代表性的人物之一，对宋词的发展有重大影响，代表作 《雨霖铃》《八声甘州》。
