译文
如同华胥一样理想的安乐和平之梦做完了，人在何地？只听得黄莺啼于红树。蔷薇露珠如香雨般滴下，寂寞地进入了闲空的庭院。
温暖的春风不懂得留住花，却将它一片片地吹落到人们身上。楼上人远看着春天快要过去，满地长长的芳草迷了人眼看不见归路。
注释
桃源忆故人：词牌名，又名《虞美人影》或《胡捣练》。上下两阙均为七六六五句，48字，句句用韵。
华胥（xū）：用以指理想的安乐和平之境，也作梦境的代称。
红树：盛开红花之树。唐时对黄莺有“红树歌童”的美称。
蔷薇（qiáng wēi）：植物名。落叶灌木，茎细长，小叶倒卵形或长圆形，花白色或淡红色，有芳香。解：懂得。
着（zhe）：表示动作、状态的持续。

桃源忆故人·暮春创作背景
宋神宗熙宁七年（1074年）暮春，苏轼在常润道中。该词是苏轼回忆起同友人陈襄，在寒食节出游西湖的情景所作。

桃源忆故人·暮春鉴赏
上片以神话之笔，写梦醒后词人在友人家所见之情景。“华胥梦断人何处”写醒景，理想安乐之境的梦做完了，主人不知何处去？“听得莺啼红树”写禽景，“莺啼”于“红树”。“几点蔷薇香雨”写物景，蔷薇露水如香雨点点滴下。“寂寞闲庭户”写院景，寂寞笼罩着空闲的庭院。四幅图景组缀，一“红”一“香”与“梦断”、“寂寞”对印，给读者以寂寞空旷之印象。
下片以象征的笔法，回忆着写春游中所见到的景象，回答上片所提出的问题。“暖风不解留花住，片片着人无数”，这两句截取典型的镜头来突出暖风“不解”无情，花“着人”有情，那人是无情还是有情？“楼上望春归去”为回答之笔，“楼上望春归去。”楼上人是有情的，望春也应该有情，回到青春时期，永葆春意。然而纵观眼前景色，现实是无情的。最后一句“芳草迷归路”为点题之笔，正如词人《常润道中，有怀钱塘，寄述古五首》其二所写：“草长江南莺乱飞，年年事事与心违。”尽管满目芳草，却不见归途。
全词运用神话、象征的笔法与写实结合，借景喻意，含蓄深隽。借回忆寒食节出游之笔，巧妙袒露了词人自己对官场、功名的残酷的现实不满。尽管“莺啼红树”，“蔷薇香雨”，到头来却是“寂寞闲庭户”。“望春归去”，却是“芳草迷归路”，确属一场华胥梦。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
