译文
洞庭湖的秋天，白浪连天，树木叶落稀疏，北方的鸿燕开始飞入吴地。
吴云寒冻，鸿燕号苦。
北风呼啸，鸿燕夜宿潇湘沙浦，王节士悲秋泪如雨飞。
白日正在天心，照耀宇宙，照亮了你对明主的忠诚之心。
壮士愤凯不已，雄风顿时横生。
怎样才能手挥倚天剑，跨海斩除长鲸？
注释
《汉书·艺文志·杂赋》录《临江王及愁思节士歌诗》四篇。南朝陆厥作《临江王节士歌》。清王琦认为是对上题的误合，李白沿袭了这个误合。
“节士”句：节士，有节操之士。《淮南子·缪称》：春女思，秋士悲，而知物化矣。全句谓节士悲秋，泪流如雨。
雄风：强劲之风。
倚天剑：极言剑之长。宋玉《大言赋》：方地为车，圆天为盖，长剑耿耿倚天外。
长鲸：指巨寇。唐刘知几《史通·叙事》：论逆臣则呼为问鼎，称巨寇则目以长鲸。

临江王节士歌创作背景
唐玄宗天宝元年（742年），李白奉诏来到京城长安。 他本想能够施展才能，有所作为，但玄宗只把他看作词臣，并不重用；李白不肯与权贵同流合污，得罪京城权贵，受到排挤，使他只居住了一年多便被赐金放还。离开长安后，与杜甫、 高适游山东，在兖州话别，临行作本诗。
临江王节士歌鉴赏
也许是因为李白喜欢皎洁的缘故，他的诗里使用最多的色彩词就是“白”。在他的富有创造性的笔下，几乎什么都可以成为白的。“白玉”“白石”“白云”“白雪”“白霜”“白浪”“白日”“白鸥”，自不待言；“洞庭白波木叶稀，燕鸿始入吴云飞。”（《临江王节士歌》）李白就这样用他的诗笔创造了一个前所未有的天地。把燕鸿比喻自己，白波比喻皎洁，蕴含不与别人同流合污之意。
“吴云寒，燕鸿苦”，虽说吴云寒冻，鸿燕号苦。实则暗寓仕途不通，得罪京城权贵而遭排挤，暗暗叫苦之意。
“风号沙宿潇湘浦，节士悲秋泪如雨”，描绘出一幅节士悲秋、泪流如雨的凄冷景色图。
“白日当天心，照之可以事明主。壮士愤，雄风生。安得倚天剑，跨海斩长鲸。”该诗以“跨海斩长鲸”一句将临江节士的威猛与豪迈刻画得淋漓尽致。
整体来看，此诗写节士悲秋，激情递发，思欲报国。前六句写肃杀之秋景及节士悲秋。“白日”以下六句写节士因悲秋而思欲报国。“白日当天心，照之可以报明主”，意谓报国之心，白日可鉴。后四句写节士发奋报国，立志灭敌。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
