刚开始听到远行去南方的大雁的鸣叫声，蝉鸣就已经销声匿迹了，我登上百尺高楼，极目远眺，水天连成一片。
霜神青女和月中嫦娥不怕寒冷，在寒月冷霜中争艳斗俏，比一比冰清玉洁的美好姿容。
注释
征雁：大雁春到北方，秋到南方，不惧远行，故称征雁。此处指南飞的雁。
无蝉：雁南飞时。已听不见蝉鸣。
楼南：一作“楼台”。
水接天：水天一色，不是实写水。是形容月、霜和夜空如水一样明亮。
青女：主管霜雪的女神。《淮南子·天文训》，青女乃出，以降霜雪”。
素娥：即嫦娥。
斗：比赛的意思。
婵娟：美好，古代多用来形容女子，也指月亮。

霜月创作背景
此诗作年无考，冯《注》以为艳情诗。这首诗是诗人在深秋月夜，登楼远眺所观赏到的景色时所写下的。

霜月鉴赏
仅从文本看，诗写深秋月夜景色，然不作静态描写，而借神话传说宛言月夜冷艳之美。首句以物候变化说明霜冷长天，深秋已至。次句言月华澄明，天穹高迥。三四句写超凡神女，争美竞妍。诗以想像为主，意境清幽空灵，冷艳绝俗。颇可说明义山诗之唯美倾向。
文学作品，特别是诗歌，它的特点在于即景寓情，因象寄兴。诗人不仅是写生的妙手，而应该是随物赋形的画工。最通常的题材，在杰出的诗人的笔底，往往能够创造出一种高超优美的意境。李商隐的这首《霜月》，就会有这样的特点。
这首诗写的是深秋季节，在一座临水高楼上观赏霜月交辉的夜景。它的意思只不过说，月白霜清，给人们带来了寒凉的秋意而已。这样的景色，会使人心旷神怡。然而这诗所给予读者美的享受，却大大超过了人们在类似的实际环境中所感受到的那些。诗的形象明朗单纯，它的内涵是饱满而丰富的。
秋天，草木摇落而变衰，眼里看到的一切，都是萎约枯黄，黯然无色；可是清宵的月影霜痕，却显得分外光明皎洁。“青女素娥俱耐冷，月中霜里斗婵娟。”尽管“琼楼玉宇，高处不胜寒”，可是冰肌玉骨的绝代佳人，愈是在宵寒露冷之中，愈是见出雾鬓风鬟之美。她们的绰约仙姿之所以不同于庸脂俗粉，正因为她们具有耐寒的特性，所以才经得起寒冷的考验。
写霜月，不从霜月本身着笔，而写月中霜里的素娥和青衣；青女、素娥在诗里是作为霜和月的象征的。这样，诗人所描绘的就不仅仅是秋夜的自然景象，而是勾摄了清秋的魂魄，霜月的精神。这精神是诗人从霜月交辉的夜景里发掘出来的自然之美，同时也反映了诗人在混浊的现实环境里追求美好、向往光明的深切愿望；是他性格中高标绝俗、耿介不随的一面的自然流露。当然不能肯定这耐寒的素娥、青女，就是诗人隐以自喻；或者说，它另有所实指。诗中寓情寄兴，是不会如此狭隘的。王夫之说得好：“兴在有意无意之间。”（《姜斋诗话》）倘若刻舟求剑，理解得过于窒实，反而会缩小它的意义，降低它的美学价值。
范元实云：“义山诗，世人但称其巧丽，至与温庭筠齐名。盖俗学只见其皮肤，其高情远意，皆不识也。”他引了《筹笔驿》、《马嵬》等篇来说明。（见魏庆之《诗人玉屑》卷十五引《诗眼》）其实，不仅咏史诗以及叙志述怀之作是如此，在更多的即景寄兴的小诗里，同样可以见出李商隐的“高情远意”。叶燮是看到了这点的，所以他特别指出李商隐的七言绝句，“寄托深而措辞婉”（《原诗》外编下）。于此诗，也可见其一斑。
这首诗在艺术手法上有一点值得注意：诗人的笔触完全在空际点染盘旋，诗境如海市蜃楼，弹指即逝；诗的形象是幻想和现实交织在一起而构成的完美的整体。秋深了，树枝上已听不到聒耳的蝉鸣，辽阔的长空里，时时传来雁阵惊寒之声。在月白霜清的宵夜，高楼独倚，水光接天，望去一片澄澈空明。“初闻征雁已无蝉”二句，是实写环境背景。这环境是美妙想象的摇篮，它会唤起人们脱俗离尘的意念。正是在这个摇篮里，诗人的灵府飞进月地云阶的神话世界中去了。后两句想象中的意境，是从前两句生发出来的。

李商隐，字义山，号玉溪（谿）生、樊南生，唐代著名诗人，祖籍河内（今河南省焦作市）沁阳，出生于郑州荥阳。他擅长诗歌写作，骈文文学价值也很高，是晚唐最出色的诗人之一，和杜牧合称“小李杜”，与温庭筠合称为“温李”，因诗文与同时期的段成式、温庭筠风格相近，且三人都在家族里排行第十六，故并称为“三十六体”。其诗构思新奇，风格秾丽，尤其是一些爱情诗和无题诗写得缠绵悱恻，优美动人，广为传诵。但部分诗歌过于隐晦迷离，难于索解，至有“诗家总爱西昆好，独恨无人作郑笺”之说。因处于牛李党争的夹缝之中，一生很不得志。死后葬于家乡沁阳（今河南焦作市沁阳与博爱县交界之处）。作品收录为《李义山诗集》。
