次韵伯氏长芦寺下创作背景
元丰三年(i080)春天，黄庭坚罢北京(今河北大名)国子监教授，到汴京(今河南开封)改官，得知吉州太和县(今江西泰和)。秋天，他从汴京起程归江南，先回洪州分宁(今江西修水)乡里，然后赴任，一路上写了许多纪游诗。这首诗为途经真州(今江苏仪征)阻风游长芦寺作。

次韵伯氏长芦寺下鉴赏
秋天，他从汴京起程归江南，先回洪外分宁（今江西修水）乡里，然后赴任，一路上写了许多纪游诗。这首诗为途经真州（今江苏仪征）阻风游长芦寺作。伯氏，指黄庭坚之兄黄大临，字元明。长芦寺，据《传灯录》记载：“真州长芦崇福禅院祖印禅师，讳智福，江州人。四处住持，胜缘毕集。三十年间，众盈五百。”可见是一座规模不小的寺院。这首诗依黄大临的诗韵而作，故称次韵。在《山谷外集》卷八中，有一首题为《外舅孙莘老守苏州留诗斗野亭庚申十月庭坚和》的诗，作于这首诗之前，韵脚也和这首诗相同。喜欢写次韵诗，是黄庭坚诗的特点之一。
起首四句，概括描写长芦寺外景，笔力雄健而自然。行旅之人对风势、风向往往特别敏感。第一句“风从落帆休”，把这种感受写得极其生动。江上行舟，人们往往从船帆上观察风力大小。此时船落下了帆，风也因帆落而停息。这种写法颇为出人意外。第二句“天与大江平”，极写形势的开阔，放眼远望，水天相连，十分壮观。以上为目之所见；三四句写耳之所闻。“僧坊昼亦静”，僧坊即长芦寺。寺院本是幽静的所在，在深秋季节，即使大白天，也常常寂无声息。不过，也不总是一点声音也没有。“钟磐寒逾清”，长芦寺里传来的钟磐之声，在寒风中，听起来更觉清越。这四句诗写了季节、环境、气氛，看似不费力，却极为精警，起笔不凡。
接着用移步换形之法写各处景致。“淹留”四句写登高看景。诗人这次游长芦寺，客观原因是风不顺而滞留。在此诗之前，作者写有《阻风入长芦寺》。可见他颇有空暇，心情相当悠闲，所以能细细游赏。他时而拄杖高岗，闲数座座相连的寺院屋顶；时而路逢幽人，煮茶共话。
接着诗人又换了一个角度，“携手”四句写从高处远望之景。“木末”，树梢。“携手霜木末”，极言立处之高。这句诗是从杜甫《北征》“我行已水滨，我仆犹木末”句化来。诗人倚栏俯视，看到了江潮上涨，看到了往来于永正县（宋代的真州，在唐代为永正县的白沙镇）江面上的船只；远远望去，连飞越建康（今江苏南京）城的鸟儿也看得见。这四句以极生动之笔，描绘了长芦寺登高眺望的一幅雄阔画面。特别是“潮生”、“墙移”、“鸟度”等词语，使整个画面充满了动感。
“薪者”四句，写山中樵夫采得树鸡（一种生在树上的菌子，可食），引起诗人的一番联想。他想象樵夫把采得的树鸡，回家做成具有南方风味的羹汤，又把白玉般的秔米（即粳米），煮成香啧喷的米饭，一家人美美地饱餐一顿。樵夫一家的做饭、烹羹，其实并非诗人亲眼所见，他依然在长芦寺下山间闲行。但是他却从樵夫为一家人的生计而辛苦操劳，对照自己领着朝廷的俸禄，顿顿饱饭，还在这里游逛，渐愧之情油然而生。字里行间反映了作者可贵的爱民思想。
最后四句写听到鸟叫声的感受。突然，草木丛中传来思归乐的啼叫声。思归乐是一种形状如斑鸠的小鸟，暮春时节，鸣声像“不如归去”，人们听到它的叫声，就会起思乡之情。古代诗人专有描写这种鸟的，如唐代元稹在《思归乐》中写道：“山中思归乐，尽作思归鸣。应缘此山路，自古离人征。”白居易在《和〈思归乐〉》中也说：“山中不栖鸟，夜半声嘤嘤。似道东归乐，行人掩泣听。”在离人听来，思归乐的叫声是凄凉的。可是黄庭坚这次归江南顺道回乡，感觉就大不一样了。在诗人耳中，思归乐的叫声不啻一曲动听的歌。思归乐在明亮的夕阳下婉转吟唱，十分悦耳，充满了温情。他在《阻风入长芦寺》诗中也曾流露了这种喜悦心情：“岁寒风落山，故乡喜言旋！”他自1067年（治平四年）登进士第，任汝州叶县（今属河南）尉，到这次赴太和知县任，中间整整相隔十三年，内心是十分高兴的。
“丛祠”四句和前面相接，是经过诗人精心构思的。细细寻去，针线极密。由“闲行”而听到“丛祠”（草木茂盛处的土地庙）思归乐的叫声；从“不如归去”的叫声，想到他正在回乡路上，喜上心来；这次回乡已在岁末，不久春天即将来临，那时薇蕨已经长得茂盛，聊能充饥，和前面“饱饭愧闲行”句相呼应。
清代方东树说：“山谷之妙，起无端，大笔如椽，转折如龙虎，扫弃一切，独提精要之语。每每承接处，中亘万里，不相联属，非寻常意计所及。”（《昭昧詹言》卷十）这首诗正是体现了这一艺术特点。更为可贵的是，这首诗气象“雄远壮阔”，却并不显得作者在用力，可见诗人功力之深厚。

黄庭坚（1045.8.9-1105.5.24），字鲁直，号山谷道人，晚号涪翁，洪州分宁（今江西省九江市修水县）人，北宋著名文学家、书法家，为盛极一时的江西诗派开山之祖，与杜甫、陈师道和陈与义素有“一祖三宗”（黄庭坚为其中一宗）之称。与张耒、晁补之、秦观都游学于苏轼门下，合称为“苏门四学士”。生前与苏轼齐名，世称“苏黄”。著有《山谷词》，且黄庭坚书法亦能独树一格，为“宋四家”之一。
