译文
春风吹来，大地回春。薄雾散去，一片晴空。池台亭榭一片生机，到处是美丽的春色。夜色沉沉，空中无月光，我心中愁苦，正是寒夜的节气，我独自一人闷坐屋里。画梁间栖息的双燕，它们是旧客，与我相识熟悉。仿佛在一声一声笑我，一个人在屋门度日，感到孤单。纷乱的花飞过墙去，隔院飘来香气，满地落花堆积。
我长长地记着那一次，在郊游时我们偶然相遇。那时你的小车是油彩画的车壁。如今又到寒食，宫廷中传送蜡烛，王孙的宅院中飞出烟。青草地依旧，却感到迷了路。我仔细寻找往日的旧迹。在柳荫里，寻到了那里的宅院。
注释
应天长：词牌名，又名《应天长令》、《应天长慢》。此调有小令、长调两体。小令始于韦庄。五十字，前后片各五句四仄韵。各家用此调字数有增减，但以韦庄词为正体。长调始于柳永，九十四字，前片十句六仄韵，后片十句七仄韵。另有九十八字体，句式与柳永词有出入。
条风：即春风。
霏雾：飘拂的云雾。
池台：有本作“池塘”。池苑楼台。
夜堂：有本作“夜台”。
前社：春社。
芸香：香草名。多年生草本植物，其下部为木质，故又称芸香树。泛指花之香气。
邂逅：（xiè hòu），不期而遇。
油壁：油壁车，车壁以油饰之。
“汉宫传烛”句：唐韩翃诗：“春城无处不飞花，寒食东风御柳斜。日暮汉宫传蜡烛，轻烟散入五侯家。”

应天长·条风布暖创作背景
词触物生情，由寒食节追忆一段美丽的邂逅往事。往事如烟，徒能思忆，多愁善感的词人，备受相思煎熬，内心无比惆怅。从篇中“汉宫传烛”来看，当是写汴京之事。故词当是周邦彦重返汴京任国子主簿时缅怀昔游所作。

应天长·条风布暖鉴赏
此词以回环起伏。跌宕有致的方式抒发了作者沉郁，惆怅和空虚的心境。作者寓情于景，借景物创造出一种空灵深远的境界，深沉淡淡雅，凝重旷远的意境中，烘托出词人曲折细腻、飘忽不定的复杂心绪。时空错综交织与意脉变化莫测，是此词的特点。
全词分为四层。第一层为起笔三句，写当日寒食白天之景，系追思实写。以下写当日夜色，是现境，系第二层。换头三句写当年寒食之邂逅。是回忆为第三层。以下写当日重寻前迹情景，又是追思实写。为第四层。第一层大开，第四层大合，中间两层则动荡幻忽，全篇神明变化几不可测，极尽千回百转刻骨铭心之情，又极尽其郁积深厚之意。整首词写得惊心动魄，荡气回肠，激越凄楚，峭拔有力，迷离惝恍，意脉流转。
“条风布暖，霏雾弄晴，池塘遍满春色”。条风即调风指春风。春风骀荡，迷雾飘动，逗出一轮睛日，池塘水绿草清，一片春色。起笔三句，幅春意盎然的图画。可是，这并非此词基调。“正是夜堂无月，沉沉暗寒食。”“正是”二字，点明当下作词之现境。寒食之夜黯然无月，沉沉夜色笼罩天地，也笼定独坐堂上的词人心头。原来起笔三句乃追思实实写，追叙寒食白天的情景。“梁间燕，前社客。似笑我、闭门愁寂。”寒食为清明前二日，春社为立春后第五个戊日，寒食前，其时燕子已经归来，故称梁间燕为前社客。上二句以沉沉夜色喻示自己心灵之沉重，这四句则从燕子之眼反观自己一人之孤寂。闭门之意象，更象征着封闭与苦闷。“乱花过，隔院芸香，满地狼藉。”芸是一种香草，此处芸香借指乱花之香气。乱花飞过。院里院外，一片香气，其境极美，而残花满地，一片狼藉，则又极悲。此三句哀感顽艳，可称奇笔。
“长记那回时，邂逅相逢，郊外驻油壁。”换头以“长记”二字领起遥远的回忆，为全词核心。词人心灵中的这一记忆，正是与天长、共地久的。那回，指双方不期而遇的那一年寒食节。“时”，是宋人词气辞，相当于“呵”。词人满腔哀思之遥深，尽见于这一声感喟之中。宋代寒食节有踏青的风俗，女性多乘油壁轻车来到郊外，其车壁用油漆彩饰，故名油壁。
记忆中这美好的一暮，词中仅倏忽而过，正如它人生中倏忽而过那样。以下，全写当日重游旧地情景。“又见汉宫传烛，飞烟五侯宅”，此二句化用韩翃《寒食》诗：“日暮汉宫传蜡烛，轻烟散入五侯家。”既点染寒食节气氛。也暗示出本事发生的地点汴京。下“又见”二字，词境又拉回当日白天的情境，从而引发出下文所写对当年寒食邂逅不可遏止的追寻。“青青草，迷路陌。”沿着当年踏青之路，词人故地重游，然芳草萋萋，迷失了旧路；可是词人却固执不舍，“强载酒、细寻前迹。”“强”字，道尽词人哀哀欲绝而又强自振作的精神状态。明知重逢无望而仍然携酒往游，而细寻前迹，终于寻到。“市桥远，柳下人家，犹自相识。”市桥远处，那柳下人家，意与自己相识。可是此时自己只身一人，绝非当年双双而来可比。至此，上片起笔所写之盎然春意，只是当天重寻旧迹之前的一霎感受，其下所写之夜色沉沉、闭门愁寂，才是下片所写白天重寻旧迹之后的归宿。
清真词情深入骨。回忆与追思实写，是这位词人的两大的绝技。清真词具备这两个特点，可谓有体有用。此词是作者怀人之作，调名《应天长》，实有深意。南宋陈元龙注于调名下引《老子》“天长地久”及《长恨歌》“天长地久无终毕”二语，不愧词人之知音。此词声情与语言之特色也颇为明显。上片自“梁间燕”之下，下片“自青青草之下。皆为三、四字短句，此词韵脚为入声，句调既紧促，韵调又激越，全词声情便是一部激厉凄楚的交响乐。

周邦彦（1056年－1121年），中国北宋末期著名的词人，字美成，号清真居士，汉族，钱塘（今浙江杭州）人。历官太学正、庐州教授、知溧水县等。徽宗时为徽猷阁待制，提举大晟府。精通音律，曾创作不少新词调。作品多写闺情、羁旅，也有咏物之作。格律谨严。语言典丽精雅。长调尤善铺叙。为后来格律派词人所宗。旧时词论称他为“词家之冠”。有《清真集》传世。
