译文
饮美酒，读《离骚》。堪笑人生在世，还有什么更令人得意的事呢？那西晋名士王衍，清雅直立，像玉壁一般，却只顾清谈，最后被敌人杀害，空余遗恨。我退隐的这一带地方，田园烟雾苍苍，山丘清寒碧碧，居住其中，闲适无比。可到了将近岁末的时候，我却还是忧风忧雪。我感慨地追忆那东晋的名臣谢安，虽壮志凌云，却被贬西州而病逝。
我梦想着，建起我的萧闲堂别墅，岩桂的幽香香飘十里。胸中的种种不平之气，都随着一杯酒，无踪无迹。天睛日暖的日子里，和友人们相聚，悠然自得，意气风发，不再有一丝一毫的遗恨。当初东晋永和九年，王羲之，谢安他们曾在兰亭把酒吟诗，这种心情，古往今来都是一样的啊，王羲之又何必在《兰亭集序》中记什么“永和九年，岁在癸丑”呢？
注释
念奴娇：词牌名，又名《大江东去》《酹江月》《杏花天》等。双调，上片九句，押四仄韵，四十九字；下片十句，押四仄韵，五十一字，共一百字。
追和赤壁词：即步韵苏轼《念奴娇·赤壁怀古》词。
离骚痛饮，笑人生佳处，能消何物：人生佳处，但能读《离骚》饮酒，不需他物。《世说新语·任诞》：“王孝伯言：名士不必须奇才，但使常得无事，痛饮酒，熟读《离骚》，便可称名士。”
夷（yí）甫：即王衍，字夷甫。据《晋书·王衍传》中载，王衍虽位居宰辅却不论世事，唯雅咏玄虚。
岩岩玉壁：东晋名士王衍，人称“岩岩清峙，壁立千仞”。
五亩苍烟，一丘寒玉，岁晚忧风雪：词人借描绘岁寒翠竹以自比。寒玉：喻寒竹；风雪：喻忧患。
西州扶病，至今悲感前杰：引谢安故事。谢安为东晋名臣，文武兼备，有天下之志，淝水大捷后乘胜追击，一度收复河南失地。然终因位高风大招人忌，被迫出镇广陵，不问朝政。太元十年，谢安扶病舆入西州，不久病逝。
卜筑萧闲：词人在镇阳别墅筑有萧闲堂，故自号为萧闲老人。
块磊：垒块，胸中不平的样子。
冰与炭：冰炭一冷一热，不能同器，喻水火中骚乱不宁。
神交：慕名而没见过面的交往。
永和：晋穆帝司马聃的年号。
江左诸人：指东晋谢安、王导诸人。

词人入金而仕，与其它仕金的北宋士大夫一样，受到种种猜忌和凌逼。他对官场是非深感厌恶。于是词人写下这首词，以表达对于摆脱拘羁，逃避祸害，获得心性自由的愿望。

这首词的上片，间接表达了词人对现实的不满和对官场的厌倦，为下片抒发隐居避世的生活志趣作铺垫。开头三句，说人生最得意事，无如饮酒读《离骚》。“痛”字，“笑”字，相排而出，奠定了激越旷放的基本情调。“夷甫当年成底事，空想岩岩玉壁”与“西州扶病，至今悲感前杰”，词人引用王衍与谢安两个历史人物，表现了矛盾的心理情绪。他对王衍的回避现实祖尚浮虚有所不满，对谢安的赍志以殁深表同情和怨愤。但是谢安所以不能施展才识，乃时势所限，朝廷中的倾轧排挤，使他不得不激流勇退。词人徘徊在出世与人世、积极与消极的边缘，他选择的正是他所不满的人生道路。饮酒读《离骚》，是消化内心块垒的手段，而隐居避世，则是词人引领以望的平安归宿。“岁晚忧风雪”是词人有感于现实的忧患意识，这既是现实的折映，又有历史的借鉴。这种对家山的怀想，置于两个历史人物的中间，仿佛是压抑不住的潜意识，也正反映了词人徘徊歧路的精神状态。
下片正面抒写归隐之志和超脱之乐。换头借梦生发，一苇飞渡，由京都到镇阳别墅，也等于由现实到理想。桂花飘香，酒浇垒块，知己相聚，清谈赋诗，人生如此，可谓毫发无遗恨，这是作者所勾画的暮年行乐图。“块垒胸中冰与炭，一酌春风都灭”，这两句词说胸中杂有相矛盾的喜惧之情，不平之气，遇酒都归于消灭，无喜亦无忧。结句回到诸公相聚唱和的背景上来。胜日神交，古今同致，王羲之《兰亭集序》又何必记“永和九年，岁在癸丑”呢。
词的前、中、后三处，提及三个东晋名士，虽非咏史，却得园林借景之妙。词上下两片，情绪相逆相生。上片悲慨今古，郁怒清深；下片矫首遐观，入于旷达自适之境。其实胸中垒块并未浇灭，不过用理智的醉意暂时驱遣，强令忘却，故旷达中时露悲凉。

蔡松年（1107～1159）字伯坚，因家乡别墅有萧闲堂，故自号萧闲老人。真定（今河北正定）人，金代文学家。宋宣和末从父守燕山，宋军败绩随父降金，天会年间授真定府判官。完颜宗弼攻宋，与岳飞等交战时，蔡松年曾为宗弼“兼总军中六部事”，仕至右丞相，封卫国公，卒谥“文简”。松年虽一生官运亨通，其作品在出处问题上却流露了颇为矛盾的思想感情。内心深处潜伏着的民族意识使他感到“身宠神已辱”，作品风格隽爽清丽，词作尤负盛名，与吴激齐名，时称“吴蔡体”，有文集《明秀集》传世。
