译文
勤政楼前百技竞赛，各自展现自己的高超与魅力，而王大娘的长竿更是鹤立鸡群，惊险美妙无比。
谁能料到妇女反而更有力气，顶着长竿犹自嫌轻，还要在上面顶个木山，叫人在山上翻滚歌舞。
注释
楼：指勤政楼。百戏：指音乐、舞蹈、曲艺、杂技等。
绮罗：指妇女穿的有纹彩的丝织品，此处指王大娘。翻：反而，反倒。杜甫《送赵十七明府之县》诗：“论交翻恨晚，卧病却愁春。”
著：一作“着”。
咏王大娘戴竿创作背景
春天为万物勃生之时，人之情感也在春天时最为丰富。此时若接到念中情人相约会的书信，必然会十分喜悦。该词反映了这种欣喜、激动之情。该词从接到情书写起，把一个恋人对爱情渴望而又焦虑的心理展示得细致入微，情感描写往复回环，富有波澜。

咏王大娘戴竿鉴赏
“楼前百戏竞争新，唯有长竿妙入神。”前二句展示了一幅让人惊叹的画面。王大娘那细细的长竿顶着那么大的一座木山，还有一个小孩子在山上翻滚出入，真够刺激。而着一“唯”字，更有“万绿丛中一点红”之妙。
“谁谓绮罗翻有力，犹自嫌轻更著人。”后两句进一步写出王大娘超乎常人的力量与神妙绝伦的技艺。“谁谓”的反问语气更突出了人们的惊讶诧异，增强了情感的表达效果。
此诗不仅再现了唐玄宗勤政楼前人们观赏百戏的热闹场面，对王大娘过人的力量和神妙的技艺表示了由衷的赞叹，而且从一个侧面展现了盛唐时期文化艺术的高度发展和社会环境的安宁和谐。据《太平御览》记载，刘晏写下此诗，博得了唐玄宗、杨贵妃等人的一片赞颂，唐玄宗非常高兴，赏赐了刘晏一制象牙笏和一领黄纹袍。

刘晏，是唐代著名的经济改革家和理财家。字士安，曹州南华（今东明县）人。幼年才华横溢，号称神童，名噪京师，明朝时列名《三字经》。历任吏部尚书同平章事、领度支、铸钱、盐铁等使。实施了一系列的财政改革措施，为安史之乱后的唐朝经济发展做出了重要的贡献。因谗臣当道，被敕自尽。
