我知道你才思敏捷，文书写得非常漂亮，却为什么要赴北疆边地去参军呢？
家中妻子将一天一天计算着分离的日子，燕支山下你千万不要长年滞留哪。
注释
苏绾（wǎn）：作者的友人，曾任职秘书省和荆州、朔方军幕，官至郎中。书记：官职名称，指官府或军幕中主管文书工作的人员。唐时元帅府及节度使府僚属中均有掌书记一职，掌管书牍奏记。
书记：此指书札、奏记两类散文。翩翩：以鸟儿飞翔时的轻快喻文才优美。
为许：为什么。从戎：从军。朔边：北方边地。
红粉：代指女性，此指苏绾的妻子。
燕（yān）支山：又叫胭脂山、焉支山，在今甘肃省山丹东南。以其多产燕支（红兰花）而得名。

赠苏绾书记鉴赏
诗的开头，不写自己对友人的依依不舍，却从赞美对方的风度和才华起笔。曹丕《与吴质书》说：“元瑜书记翩翩，致足乐也。”又，陆厥《奉答内兄希叔诗》也有：“书记既翩翩，赋歌能妙绝。”诗的第一句即化用这些意思来形容苏绾其人——潇洒自得，文采出众。文士相交，惺惺相惜，相互间自必有许多值得倾慕和书写之处，但诗中只突出“书记翩翩”这一点，这是由诗的主题决定的。因为苏绾此时正要去北疆担任节度使府的掌书记。友人是入军府任职，因此也可称为从戎。诗的第二句并不承上而作平叙，而是出人意料地设问。这一问乍看很突然，而且没有回答，似乎不着边际。其实这里诗人故意使用了先答后问的曲笔，答案其实就是头一句。正因为苏绾书记翩翩，才被元帅聘为书记。这样的写法更突出了友人的风度与才干，而诗人对友人的的倾慕与留恋就蕴含其间，不言而喻了。诗的第三、四句婉转抒情，道出惜别之意，希望友人在边庭不要逗留太久，而要早作归计。但诗人不从行者方面着笔，而反从居者方面着笔；并非从正面写离情，而是从对面来映衬，同时在从居者着笔时又不直接从诗人自己着笔，而是从友人最亲近的人——他的妻子那一方着笔。这是一联自然流动的对仗，它以燕支山泛指友人将要赴任之地，以红粉楼代指友人妻子，从设想红粉佳人计日而待丈夫的归期，委婉而又风趣地劝说友人切勿留恋边庭，应尽早归家团聚，表面上说妻子不忍分离，实则含蓄地表达诗人自己盼友人早归。这就是不落俗套，不露痕迹，将前人反复吟咏过的离情别绪刻画得十分生动而细腻，表现出诗人高妙的抒情技巧。
清人袁枚《续诗品·取经》要求作诗“揉直使曲，叠单使复”，以避免使读者“一览而竟，倦心齐生”。此诗之贵即在于“曲”，不过短短四句，却意婉而情深，富有含蓄之美。诗的主旨是送别，在古典诗歌中是一种平常的的题材，若泛泛设辞，平平而起，直率地抒写送行时的留恋和盼望之情，会显得毫无韵致，令人倦厌。诗人不愧写情高手，他刻意求新，以复笔与巧笔绘出优美深远的抒情境界。

杜审言（约645-708），字必简，汉族，中国唐朝襄州襄阳人，是大诗人杜甫的祖父。唐高宗咸亨进士，唐中宗时，因与张易之兄弟交往，被流放峰州（今越南越池东南）。曾任隰城尉、洛阳丞等小官，累官修文馆直学士，少与李峤、崔融、苏味道齐名，称“文章四友”，是唐代“近体诗”的奠基人之一，作品多朴素自然。其五言律诗，格律谨严。
