知有前期在，难分此夜中。
无将故人酒，不及石尤风。
留卢秦卿鉴赏
送别是古代人生活中的常事，故而也成了古诗中屡写不衰的题材。唐诗中的送别诗汗牛充栋，但这首诗却能翻出新意，别具一格。
起句突兀。前期，即后会之期，重逢之期。对于分别的人来说，“后会有期”本来是一个极大的安慰，但诗人将它翻到前面，置于一个次要、陪衬的地位，意思是说纵然知道后会有期，但此夜之别，仍然难分难舍。这样一退一进，欲擒故纵的写法，不仅将难分之情表现得更为感人，而且这么一口说出后会之事，也就逼得对方毫无回旋余地，只能被这种“最入情”之言所压倒。“无将故人酒，不及石尤风”末句收得平淡，然而借酒发挥之辞，却非同寻常。据《江湖纪闻》记载：“石尤风者，传闻石氏女嫁为尤郎妇，情好甚笃。为商远行，妻阻之不从。尤出不归，妻忆之病亡。临亡叹曰：‘吾恨不能阻其行以至于此，今凡有商旅远行，吾当作大风，为天下妇人阻之’，自后商旅发船值打头逆风，则曰此石尤风也，遂止不行。妇人以夫为姓，故曰石尤。”这便是“石尤风”一词的来历及含意。这两句意思是说逆风尚且能滞客留人，你可不要使“故人酒”反不及一阵打头的逆风！这里连用两个否定句式，造成对比、递进的语势，使言辞变得激切有力，气势逼人，而又情韵浓烈，直令人无言以对。“留客苦言，非多情者想不及此。”诗人设想之妙，言辞之巧，皆出自难分之情，留客之意，主人如此多情，客人是不忍推，也不能推的，那结果大概只能是宾主一杯又一杯，杯酒情胜石尤风，一醉方休了。
古人送别诗一般将“后会之期”置后诗后描写，如王昌龄的“沅江流水到辰阳，溪口逢君驿路长。远谪唯知望雷雨，明年春水共还乡。”（《送吴十九往沅陵》）孟浩然的“故人具鸡黍，邀我至田家。绿树村边合，青山郭外斜。开轩面场圃，把酒话桑麻。待到重阳日，还来就菊花。”（《过故人庄》）司空曙这首诗则一反常态，将“后会之期”置于篇首，造成一种突兀奇崛之势，把人类难别难分之情表现得深婉曲折，动人心魄。

司空曙(约720-790年)，字文明，或作文初。广平（今河北永年县东南）人，大历十才子之一，唐代诗人。约唐代宗大历初前后在世。大历年进士，磊落有奇才，与李约为至交。性耿介，不干权要。家无担石，晏如也。尝因病中不给，遣其爱姬。韦辠节度剑南，辟致幕府。授洛阳主簿。。其诗多为行旅赠别之作，长于抒情，多有名句。胡震亨曰："司空虞部婉雅闲淡，语近性情。"(《唐音癸签》卷七)有《司空文明诗集》。其诗朴素真挚，情感细腻，多写自然景色和乡情旅思，长于五律。诗风闲雅疏淡。
