译文
饯行酒席上唱完离别的悲歌，亭中散了离别的饮宴，香尘遮住了视线，离人仍频频回首。送行人的马隔着树林嘶叫，行人的船已随着江波渐去渐远。
画阁上我黯然魂消，上高楼望断天涯，夕阳下只见江波无边无垠。人世间无穷无尽的是离愁，我的心要飞到天涯地角寻他个遍。
注释
踏莎（suō）行：词牌名，又名“喜朝天”“柳长春”“踏雪行”“平阳兴”“踏云行”“潇潇雨”等。双调小令，《张子野词》入“中吕宫”。五十八字，上下片各三仄韵。四言双起，例用对偶。
祖席：古代出行时祭祀路神叫“祖”。后来称设宴饯别的所在为“祖席”。
长亭：旅途中的驿站，为送别之地。
香尘：地上落花很多，尘土都带有香气，因称香尘。
棹：同“櫂”，划船的桨。长的叫櫂，短的叫楫。这里指船。
两句是说“居人”在楼阁之上遥念“”行人。
寻思：不断思索。两句是说从连接到天边的水波，引出无边无际的离愁，而有“思绕天涯”的感觉。

踏莎行·祖席离歌鉴赏
《踏莎行·祖席离歌》是宋代词人晏殊的作品，被选入《宋词三百首》。此词咏别情。上片写饯行的情景，开始写送别场面，然后分别从居者、行者两方面写离情，一方面表现居者依依难舍，另一方面叙写行人不忍离去；下片单从居者方面写对行者的思念，因行者从水路乘船走，所以仍紧扣水波写。全词融情于景，情境如画，勾勒出一幅春江送别图，语言含蓄婉转、平易而意旨深曲。
此词起二语，写在饯行的酒席上别情依依。“离歌”与“别宴”同属一事，而“别宴”又与“祖席”意同。此处不避重复，是为了强调送别的场面。“香尘”句，写刚分手时的情景：落花满地，尘土也带有芬芳的气息，已隔着漠漠的香尘，彼此还一再含情回顾。“回面”，虽未点明是“居人”还是“行人”，但可以想见双方都缱绻缠绵，不忍别去。四、五句从送者与行者分别写来，两相对照，令人尤难解颐。尽管频频回望对方，总有不能再看到的时候。一个小树林，隔断了人的视线，那马儿也象了解“居人”的心意，仰首长嘶，而“行人”已乘船渐行渐远，终于随着江流的曲折而隐没不见了。马嘶、棹转，从侧面衬托出别情之深。
过片两句，写“居人”登上画阁，不禁黯然魂消，凭倚高楼，独自含愁极望，惟见江波映照着落日余辉，伸展向遥远的天边，徒令人增添别恨而已。居人登楼，只是惘惘离怀，有所不甘，并不必为了继续目送行舟。词语不粘不脱，有悠然远意。
时间上，下片与上片亦不一定紧密衔接，登楼极目，只是别后的情事，遥念行人，无时能已。句中“只送”二字，怨极恨极而又无可奈何，语言平易而意旨深曲。收二句“无穷无尽是离愁，天涯地角寻思遍”，写别后的思量，自上句“平波远”三字化出。抒情主人公放纵自己的想象，让此情随波而去，绕遍天涯。由眼前的渺渺平波，引出无穷无尽的离愁，意境本已深远，再以“天涯地角”补足之，则相思相望之情几趋极致。
此词写饯别相送及别后的怀思，均情景逼真，含蕴无尽。如一幅丹青妙手绘的春江送别图，令读者置身其间，真切地感受到作者的缱绻深情。

晏殊【yàn shū】（991-1055）字同叔，著名词人、诗人、散文家，北宋抚州府临川城人（今江西进贤县文港镇沙河人，位于香楠峰下，其父为抚州府手力节级），是当时的抚州籍第一个宰相。晏殊与其第七子晏几道（1037-1110），在当时北宋词坛上，被称为“大晏”和“小晏”。
