文翁昔时理蜀土，能令蜀人似邹鲁。范公今者镇江东，亦云教化似文翁。
文翁范公本同志，蜀人吴人有殊异。蜀人之先自鱼凫，不闻道德能过吴。
吴前泰伯后季札，礼让继为天下师。迄今遗风未全灭，得逢贤侯益昭晰。
本之旧俗已相百，况乃磨砻皆俊杰。当时文翁化蜀者，独有扬雄及司马。
后生可畏不可诬，安知不在吴公下。吴人于今歌且仰，我公去矣安所仿。
愿公上佐天王明，姬文孔术从兹行。

刘敞（1019—1068）北宋史学家、经学家、散文家。字原父，一作原甫，临江新喻荻斜（今属江西樟树）。庆历六年与弟刘攽同科进士，以大理评事通判蔡州，后官至集贤院学士。与梅尧臣、欧阳修交往较多。为人耿直，立朝敢言，为政有绩，出使有功。刘敞学识渊博，欧阳修说他“自六经百氏古今传记，下至天文、地理、卜医、数术、浮图、老庄之说，无所不通；其为文章尤敏赡”，与弟刘攽合称为北宋二刘，著有《公是集》。
