赵彦若，字元考，青州临淄（今山东淄博东北）人。师民子。以荫入仕，为秘阁校勘，迁集贤校理，通判淄州。神宗元丰二年（一○七九），除国史编修官（《续资治通鉴长编》卷三○○），修起居注。五年，召试中书舍人（同上书卷三二五）。六年，改右谏议大夫。七年，降秘书监。八年，出知亳州，移陈州。召还，提举万寿观。哲宗元祐元年（一○八六），迁兵部侍郎。五年，权礼部尚书兼刑部侍郎。六年，拜翰林学士。绍圣初以元祐党人贬安远军节度副使、澧州安置。卒，年六十三。事见《东都事略》卷六○《趟师民传》。今录诗二首。
