海瑞（1514年－1587年），字汝贤，号刚峰，海南琼山（今海口市）人。明朝著名清官。海瑞一生，经历了正德、嘉靖、隆庆、万历四朝。他打击豪强，疏浚河道，修筑水利工程，力主严惩贪官污吏，禁止循私受贿，并推行一条鞭法，强令贪官污吏退田还民，遂有“海青天”之誉。1587年（万历十五年），海瑞病死于南京官邸。赠太子太保，谥忠介。海瑞死后，关于他的传说故事，民间广为流传。
