明松江府华亭人，初名天禄，字谨中。洪武中以太学生除太常典簿，迁蜀王府教授。善书，行楷学苏轼而尤工于分隶。善杂画，喜钩勒竹石。能诗，太祖曾命尽进其所作，故有集名《经进集》。
