译文
塞上的夜，沉沉如水。月落的时候，秋霜满天。罗衾不耐五更寒。曾几何时，小园香径，人面如桃花。你牵着她的手，闭着眼睛走，也不会迷路。
那时的翠被，是多么的温暖。那时回廊下，携手处，花月是多么的圆满。如今，边塞。在每个星光陨落的晚上，你只能一遍一遍数自己的寂寞。守护一朵小小的灯花。在梦中，已是十年飘零十年心。
注释
采桑子：又名《丑奴儿》，《罗敷媚》，《罗敷艳歌》等。格律为双调四十四字，上下片各四句三平韵。另有添字格，两结句各添二字，两平韵，一叠韵。
严霜：严寒的霜气。霜起而使百草衰萎，故称。絮：飞絮。
斜汉：即天河、银河。南朝宋谢庄《月赋》：“于时斜汉左界，北陆南躔。”
毡（zhān）帷（wéi）：毡做的毛毯。
香篝（gōu）：熏笼。古代室内焚香所用之器。陆游《五月十一日睡起》：“茶碗嫩汤初得乳，香篝微火未成灰。”
疏钟：稀疏的钟声。
穗（suì）：谷物等结的穗，这里指灯花。

采桑子·严宵拥絮频惊起创作背景
康熙二十一年（1682），词人来到塞外之地，感受到北地的苦寒与凄凉，又恰逢爱妻离去，有感而发作下此词。

采桑子·严宵拥絮频惊起鉴赏
上片全是用的景语，词人用“严宵”“拥絮”来透露塞上寒夜的寒冷，也从中透露出自己凄苦的心境。“严霜拥絮频惊起，扑面霜空。斜汉朦胧。冷逼毡帷火不红。”首句就写出夜的寒冷，这里的“絮”做两个解释，一个是上文所提到的棉被，意思便是半夜用被子裹着身体，还有一个就是指柳絮般的雪花。整句的意思便是严寒卷起雪花，令其如柳絮般飞舞在空中。不过从“频惊起”这三个字来推敲，这里的絮当做棉被来解释。因为夜里太过寒冷，几次从睡梦中被冻醒，屋内尚且如此，屋外的旷野上更不用说了，“扑面霜空，斜汉朦胧，逼毡帷火不红”。天空寒雾迷漫，银河仿佛横亘在夜空上的河流，被寒气所笼罩，在这样的天气下，军营里的炉火，再怎么添加柴火，也是烧不旺的。
下片词人便峰回路转，从景转心，开始了联想、回忆、幻境相结合的心理描写。“香篝翠被浑闲事，回首西风。何处疏钟，一穗灯花似梦中”。“香篝翠被浑闲事”，一段似梦非梦的描述，仿佛让读词的人与他一同回到了温暖的家中，守着暖炉，怀拥翠被，温暖舒适。这里的描述并非完全是身体上向往的舒适，更多的则是表达心理上的一种向往，向往自由轻松、宽松舒适的环境。“香篝”是古人在室内焚香所用的器具，而”翠被“则是背面鲜丽柔软的被子，这两样事物看似是纳兰对家的渴望，纳兰也知道这一切都是“浑闲事”，他“回首西风”，妻一切不过是想象出来的美梦一场罢了。最后两句：“何处疏钟，一穗灯花似梦中。”这时词人听到稀疏的钟声，而帐中只有“一穗灯花”，在灯光朦胧中，作者如在梦中，不知身在何处，孤凄情怀，只能以词写心，托物言志。

纳兰性德（1655－1685），满洲人，字容若，号楞伽山人，清代最著名词人之一。其诗词“纳兰词”在清代以至整个中国词坛上都享有很高的声誉，在中国文学史上也占有光采夺目的一席。他生活于满汉融合时期，其贵族家庭兴衰具有关联于王朝国事的典型性。虽侍从帝王，却向往经历平淡。特殊的生活环境背景，加之个人的超逸才华，使其诗词创作呈现出独特的个性和鲜明的艺术风格。流传至今的《木兰花令·拟古决绝词》——“人生若只如初见，何事秋风悲画扇？等闲变却故人心，却道故人心易变。”富于意境，是其众多代表作之一。
