世间大巧不自用，用物之力因自然。力大无过风与水，驱使有道天无权。
帆樯辐毂皆圣作，水车奇妙尤无前。筑防壅水令湍悍，冲波蹴踏车轮旋。
轮广丈余贯以轴，编筒其上巧在偏。仰则吸水俯吐水，如瓶倾泻檐溜悬。
刳木为槽受其吐，驾空行远归于田。神龙卷波谢迅疾，霖雨注地输连绵。
昼翻夜运不暂息，无人守视常转圜。溪丁作碓舂米谷，山僧修笕行清泉。
一家一户自便利，岂如普润泽不专。汉阴丈人戒机事，此非私智天机全。
于人无争物无损，其器可守法可传。吴淞水平不可激，夔蚿相视休相怜。
但安桔槔守拙钝，勤苦亦自邀丰年。

潘耒（1646～1708）清初学者。字次耕，一字稼堂、南村，晚号止止居士，藏书室名遂初堂、大雅堂，吴江（今属江苏苏州）人，潘柽章弟。师事徐枋、顾炎武，博通经史、历算、音学。清康熙十八年，举博学鸿词，授翰林院检讨，参与纂修《明史》，主纂《食货志》，终以浮躁降职。其文颇多论学之作，也能诗。所著有《类音》、《遂初堂诗集》、《文集》、《别集》等。
