三面黄金甲，单于破胆还。
从军行二首·其一鉴赏
这首诗描写了汉武帝时，大将军卫青在漠北以武钢车合围单于，从此漠南无王庭的一战。
结合史记的一段记载：“而适值大将军军出塞千余里，见单于兵陈而待，于是大将军令武刚车自环为营，而纵五千骑往当匈奴。匈奴亦纵可万骑。会日且入，大风起，沙砾击面，两军不相见，汉益纵左右翼绕单于。单于视汉兵多，而士马尚强，战而匈奴不利，薄莫，单于遂乘壮骑可数百，直冒汉围西北驰去。”（《卫将军骠骑列传》）
事件：“大将军出战”漠北决战，大将军卫青率五万骑兵于定襄出塞千余里，深入漠北。
环境：“白日暗榆关”会日且入，大风起，沙砾击面，两军不相见。
战法：“三面黄金甲”大将军令武刚车自环为营合围单于，趁风起时反击。
战果：“单于破胆还”单于遂乘壮骑可数百，直冒汉围西北逃跑而去。

王昌龄 (698— 756），字少伯，河东晋阳（今山西太原）人。盛唐著名边塞诗人，后人誉为“七绝圣手”。早年贫贱，困于农耕，年近不惑，始中进士。初任秘书省校书郎，又中博学宏辞，授汜水尉，因事贬岭南。与李白、高适、王维、王之涣、岑参等交厚。开元末返长安，改授江宁丞。被谤谪龙标尉。安史乱起，为刺史闾丘所杀。其诗以七绝见长，尤以登第之前赴西北边塞所作边塞诗最著，有“诗家夫子王江宁”之誉（亦有“诗家天子王江宁”的说法）。
